AML Diagnosis.

Waiting for her room at the ER

In the beginning of March, Laura started feeling different, she was feeling fatigued, having nausea... At one point at work she was with a client and had to stop because she almost fainted; other symptoms she started to have were shortness of breath and rapid heart beat.

At first we thought it was a medicine she was on at that time, so she stopped taking it, but her symptoms worsen. Then we wondered if it was a baby coming... So she took a pregnancy test and the result was negative.

Concerned about what was happening, Laura went to a Dr's visit and had bloodwork done; this was on a Monday of mid April.

Tuesday morning Laura's Dr called and told her to go immediately to the ER because her hemoglobin was too low and she needed a blood transfusion.

4 units of Blood

That week she had to stay at the hospital, because Dr's were needing to run more tests, and after a CT scan, bone marrow biopsy and lots of blood drawn, they found a Teratoma on her left ovarie, and Friday, Hematologist Oncologist diagnosed Laura with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia).

This cought us by surprise, it went from her being completely healthy to having this rare blood cancer that appears from nowhere, and it only affects four in one hundred thousand people a year.

Fear, concerns, anger, alot of feelings and thoughts... - Why?! That was the main question in our minds, - why now that we are getting married in less than a month!?

For now Dr's let us have our wedding and Laura will start her treatment this month, we will keep updating with all the aftermath of all this.
